Horses of Arda

CLICK ON ANY PICTURE TO SEE FULLY!!!

Bran ~ "Bramble, Raven"

A sorrel gelding with an easy, docile temperament. We see him once and briefly in Chapter 2 - Gonathra - of Gwaleth, Ohtar, Mellon.

Frenya
~ "Noble"

Edonar's roan mare. She is patient, long-suffering and steady - much like her rider. We see her first in Chapter 2 - Gonathra - of Gwaleth, Ohtar, Mellon and later in O Uruloki.

Briyn ~ "Rain"

Lohinon's dappled gelding. He is very intelligent and almost seems to chuckle quietly at others like his rider. We see him first in Chapter 4 - Rhevia - of Gwaleth, Ohtar, Mellon and he makes brief appearances throughout the rest of GOM.

Eryaelen ~ "Single Star"

Haiawen's black mare. This horse is Rohirrim bred and has Mearas blood. She is loyal, smart and fleet of foot. We see her once in Chapter 4 - Rhevia - of Gwaleth, Ohtar, Mellon and if I ever get around to writing Legolas and Haiawen's story, you shall see her there, too.

Nithin ~ "Trustworthy"

Ethon's gray/white gelding. He is curious, stubborn, but also very friendly. We see him first in chapter 4 - Rhevia - of Gwaleth, Ohtar, Mellon.

Talagor ~ "Swift Foot"

Elrohir's chestnut stallion, given to him by the Rohirrim. He is fiery and temperamental, often times stubborn, but when ridden by Elrohir also very loyal to a dangerous degree. Talagor's original name was Flame, but was changed by Elrohir when the stallion was gifted to him. We first see this horse in Chapter 9 - Anglenna - of Gwaleth, Ohtar, Mellon and then many times later in Hervess a Iel.

Colgil ~ "Gold Star"

Elladan's palomino stallion. given to him by the Rohirrim. He is very complicate in attitude and his willingness to obey his rider, but can be extremely fierce in battle. Colgil's original name was Sunmane, but this was changed by Elladan upon his receiving the stallion. We are first introduced to Colgil in Chapter 9 - Anglenna - of Gwaleth, Ohtar, Mellon and then we see him later in Hervess a Iel.

Alagos ~ "Storm of Wind"

While Alagos is technically a Shape-shifter Dragon, he does enjoy taking the form of a white stallion like the horse your see below. We are first aware of Alagos' existence in Chapter 13 - Dûdagor - of Gwaleth, Ohtar, Mellon. We then see him in every story after GOM.

Ladril ~ "Mist"

Edinon's white mare. Not much is known about Ladril besides her name, but it is said she is very even-tempered mare, sweet and willing to obey. We see Ladril mentioned in Chapter 19 - Rhaw - of Gwaleth, Ohtar, Mellon.

Lothuial ~ "Evening Flower"

Elrond's gray mare. Much like her rider, this mare is intelligent, not easy to startle and hardy. She is light of foot and swift as all elven horses should be. We see her first in Chapter 1 - Nor - of Hervess a Iel.

Tinnu ~ "Starry Twilight"

Lothril's dappled gray mare. This horse is elven-bred and so has many of the temperaments of the breed. Loyalty, fleetness, light color and willingness to perform are the most adapt at explaining Tinnu. We first see this mare in Chapter 1 - Nor - of Hervess a Iel.

Mithtal ~ "Gray Foot"

Eluchon's light gray stallion. This is equine is smaller then one would expect a male horse to be, but what he lacks in great size he makes up for in fierceness and speed. He loves to run, but obeys every command given to him by his rider. He is an excellent example of an elven horse. We are introduced to Mithtal in Chapter 8 - Bronwe - of Hervess a Iel.

Rosesul ~ "Red Wind"

Arienel's chestnut mare - the horse she had to use while away from Morroch. Rosesul is a halfbreed of elven horse and wild horse which accounts for her strange coloring among the horses of white and gray that make up most of the elven breed. This mare is slightly high-strung, fast of foot and intelligent. She shows some signs of her wild blood in her skittish nature, but has all the heart of an elven horse. We see her first in Chapter 8 - Bronwe - Hervess a Iel.
